What's in a name?

MCCE name change

MCCE’s mission to “promote adult learning communities” continues. Established in Halifax as a non-profit organization in 1973, MCCE strives to increase and improve learning opportunities for adults at the community level. Through meetings, luncheons, discussions, publications, social events and professional development activities MCCE provides a network for those interested in supporting lifelong learning.

The newest logo marks a name change – we are no longer “Metro Council on Continuing      Education.” The term “Metro” is long outdated; we are a provincial and regional centre for promotion of lifelong learning broader than continuing education. We thought our “MCCE” had enough recognition to stand on its own, so we have kept the letters and dropped the name. Call us “Em Cee Cee Eee.” That is what you will hear when we answer the office phone.

One sign of progress is the interest in this magazine – we have had international interest. This means a large number of sponsors in the field of lifelong learning have chosen our medium for presenting their opportunities. Arguably, this is the largest assembly of adult learning opportunities in one place.

We hope that you will find an editorial, course or program through our booklet that will challenge your interest in learning this fall.

We wish to publicly thank   Pat King (1995) Limited  for their ongoing support,  which  enables MCCE to serve  the community from offices at 25 Wentworth Street, Suite 204, Dartmouth, NS.
